Father’s Day Adventure

My sister came into town to visit my father for Father’s day weekend.  She lives in California.  We live in Minnesota.  This is a big deal

We all crawled into the truck to take an adventure to try a pizza place out in the middle of Nowhere, Wisconsin called Stone Barn Pizza.

Two and a half hours is a long drive for a meal… But oh so worth it.

Incredible food and dessert, as well as a beautiful view.

This place is open for twelve hours a week for sixteen weeks out of the year, and they make enough money to live off of from just that.  We weren’t the ones who travelled the farthest to get there either.

Over the weekend I had a chance to sample some locally made mead, which was excellent.  If you get a chance to try mead, take it.  It’s one of the oldest alcoholic beverages on the earth, made from honey as opposed to barley and therefore naturally a sweet wine.

That’s actually where the term honeymoon comes from.  Going all the way back to the Vikings of old, when a couple was married one of the gifts from the village was a month’s supply of mead.

Apparently it helped the marriage to stay drunk for a month.

Now that I think about it, that might be a good practice to reinstate before I get married.
